About MetricFauna

Informed action. Greater reaction. Our Footprint coming soon. A map of Africa with five geomarkers on it: Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, South Africa, and Egypt. The Egypt marker is black, the Uganda marker is white and the others are orange.

MetricFauna is an African organization that pilots animal welfare interventions and builds the evidence base that the continent’s animal welfare movement currently lacks. We conduct rigorous, pre-registered feasibility studies on African soil, test whether specific welfare interventions work in local market conditions and then package those findings into adoption-ready evidence that charities, advocates, and corporate actors can act on immediately. Africa is home to billions of farmed animals, yet the animal welfare movement on the continent operates without locally grounded evidence bases. Generally, advocates rely on imported strategies that often fail to translate. Rapidly scaling industries like insect farming, commercial poultry, and aquaculture are expanding with no welfare research attention. MetricFauna exists to close this gap.
